The commanding shape and originality in design of this chair by Charles Rennie Mackintosh is unforgettable. Designed in the late 1890's for English tea rooms, the high backed chairs functioned as screens when placed around a table, providing guests with greater privacy.
The chair is constructed from solid ash wood with a black lacquer finish and padded black leather seat cushion. The open wood grain adds interest and texture, attesting to the chair's solid wood construction.
This stunning chair can be used individually in an entrance hall, bedroom, or office, or grouped around a table. An armless version, Model 632, is also available. Made in Italy.
